Understanding Roles

MyStudio uses a role-based permission system to control what each user can see and do. This guide explains the different roles and their capabilities.

Role Categories

Users fall into one of three categories:

Role Comparison

1. Client Roles

For clients of video production companies.

2. Staff Roles

For video production company team members.

For platform administrators.

Client Role Details

Client Manager

As a Client Manager, you can:

  • View all company projects
  • Create new project requests
  • Approve or reject quotes
  • View and manage invoices
  • Add and manage comments
  • Access company brand assets
  • Manage other client users in your company

Client User

As a Client User, you can:

  • View assigned projects
  • Watch review videos
  • Add comments and feedback
  • Request revisions
  • View company assets

Staff Role Details

Producer

Producers manage the project lifecycle:

  • Create and manage client projects
  • Generate and send quotes
  • Coordinate with team members
  • Track project timelines

Editor

Editors handle video content:

  • Upload review videos (Vimeo, YouTube, Bunny Stream)
  • Manage video versions
  • Update video metadata
  • View project details

Director

Directors provide creative oversight:

  • Review and approve videos internally
  • Manage creative direction
  • Access all video content
  • Provide feedback to editors

Accounts

Accounts team handles finances:

  • Create and send invoices
  • Track payments
  • View billing history
  • Generate financial reports

Changing Roles

Role assignments are managed by:

  • Client Managers - Can assign Client User roles within their company
  • Tenant Admins - Can assign staff roles within the production company
  • Platform Admins - Can manage all roles across the platform
